WWII Draft card: Name, birth and death date from Davidson DNA participant 68990 Name from Davidson DNA website participant 66890 Samuel [S.A. or "Dad Davidson"] owned the little movie theater in Cherryvale, and Frank was the operator who ran the film, his occupation to the end of his life. Henry apparently worked there too. Also, Frank's wife, Aunt Dutch, manned the ticket window. She did beautiful needlework and the story is that she would work on that when business was slow. The movie theater shows up in the 1920 census for them, and I've wondered what films they showed at that early date. Frank and Dutch were married in 1918 while he was stationed in San Antonio during WWI. Francis "Ray" Davidson, 88, of Salem, Oregon passed away peacefully November 28th, 2014.
He was born and raised in Joplin, Missouri, the only child of Marie and Francis Davidson. He grew up loving sports, especially basketball, which he played on a state championship team in high school. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to active duty in the Philippines. He left the Philippines in July of 1946 to go to Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he received his honorable discharge. Shortly thereafter, he received his college education through the VA and GI bill at the University of Missouri in Colombia, MO. He graduated with a bachelor of Journalism degree in 1949.
He met Jane Symonds while attending the university, and they were married in St. Louis, Missouri in 1950. Ray had a long and successful career in advertising and public relations, which brought him to live and work in Dallas, Texas, and later, San Francisco, California. Ray and Jane decided to retire in the Salem area in 1992, enjoying golf at McNary Estates and later the Salem Golf Club. Ray could be seen almost daily enjoying breakfast at Rudy's with a table of good friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, of 64 years of marriage; daughter Lynne of Kirkland, Washington; son Michael of Duvall, Washington; and four grandchildren, Kati, Robbie, Sarah, Mikala, and one great-grandson, Landon. He is predeceased by his eldest son, Dan, of Las Vegas, Nevada.
A private family memorial will be held in the Seattle, Washington area. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.

Fred Davidson, 84, of 4401 Metropolitan avenue, Kansas City, Kansas, who with his brother, Earl S, Davidson, oper-ated one of the first motor car agencies in Kansas City, Kan-sas, died today at his home,
The Davidson brothers formed the motor car agency in 1916 and the partnership continued until 1961 when Fred Davidson re-tired. For years business was conducted from a building at Seventh street and Barnett av-enue. They also had been agents for the old Essex motor car. Lat-er they moved to a new building at Ninth street and State ave-nue.
A native of Lecompton; Ks., Mr, Davidson lived in Greater Kansas City, most of his life. He was a member of the Verites lodge of the I, 0. 0. F.
Besides Earl Davidson, who lives at 1608 South Fifty-fifth, Kansas City, Kansas, he leaves his wife, Mrs. Norma M. Davidson of the home, two stepsons, A, Lee Sor-rels, 823 North Fifteenth, Kansas City, Kansas, and Adrian R. Sorroels, Pacific Pallsacloa, Calif,; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Levey and Mrs. Minnie Everett, both of 3416 Sil* vot\\ Kansas City, Kansas; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 o'clock Monday at the Simmens chapel; burial In Maple Hill cemetery. Friends may call after I 11 o'clock Sunday at the chapel
