James Harrison Acton settled in Boone Co. IN in 1856 - People's guide and Directory to Boone Co., Allen Co, PL.
He lived in a small log cabin with a loft in Harison Twp, about 7 1/2 mi. S. of Lebanon. The cabin was moved to Old Mill Run Park, but is no longer in existence. He was a carpenter and built the first schoolhouse in Harrison Twp, Boone Co., IN

DEATH RECORD.
James Harrison Acton.
James Harrison Acton, the son of Aaron and Hennah Acton, was born in Garrard county, Kentucky, August 2, 1817, and after an illness of many months died at his home six miles south of Lebanon, Thursday morning, April 27, 1904. The deceased was aged eighty-six years. eight months and twenty-six days.
On December 8. 1836, in Ripley county, he was united in marriage to Serepta Prather, who, with two children, have preceded him to the spirit land. He leaves eight children: Basil
A. Acton. of New Holland, Ohio: Sarah Dickerson. of Deering, Kansas; Simon S., Barton R.. James M., John T., Hannah Acton and Margaret A. Dickerson.
He also leaves three brothers—Andrew Acton, of Des Moines, Iowa; Dr. W. T. Acton, of Worthington, Ind;Aaron Acton, of Clayton, Ind., and one sister'— Cynthia Perkins of Des Moines. Iowa.
Mr. Acton was a member of the Christian church at New Hope. Funeral services wire held at the residence Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Henry Ashley officiating. Interment at the Robinson cemetery.

Obituary.
Mrs. Sarepta Acton, wife of Jas. H. Acton, and daughter of Basil and Elizabeth Prathe, was born in Nicholas county, Ky., in 1816. She came to Indiana in 1824, and was married in 1835. She joined the Christian church by confession of faith in the' Lord Jesus Christ in 1843, and lived a Christian life for fifty years, until death claimed her, March 25, 1893. She was the mother of ten children, of whom five sons and three daughters survive to mourn the loss of a dear mother. She died in the triumph and hope of resurrection. When Jesus comes to raise the dead to life in the great day of the Lord we will meet each other there to greet and # in praise to the Lamb of God. X

John F Acton owned real estate with value of $300, could not read or write.
John Fortner Acton
John Fortner Acton married mother's aunt Martha Laswell. They lived in an old tumble down log hut a short distrance west of the Tanglewood Church. The hut disappeared years ago. This family was very unfortunate, much diseased and very very poor. Their children were: Thomas and Aaron Acton, twins who died in youth. Sarah Acton, Hannah Acton, a feeble minded woman who was sent to the Ripley County Infirmary after the sudden death of her mother, one Sunday morning. Hannah died at the Infirmary. Leviea E. Acton, born 4 Jun 1875 and died 2 May 1880 and Wesley Acton who married Sarah Lemaster and lived in Scott County, IN. Their children were Martha Jane, John, Elijah and Lovica. I think they are all dead. I suppose Wesley is also. John Fortner Acton died when his children were small and his widow struggled with poverty and disease with but little success. It is told that she said once, "The Lord took all my children that had any minds and left me the ones that had none." - Letter from Violet E. Tophcorser, dated 17 Aug 1952
