Harold Baxter Pennington, 75, died Tuesday at Smyth County Community Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Pennington of Chilhowie; four sons, Roy B. Pennington, Charles E. Pennington and Delmer E. Pennington, all of Chilhowie, and Marvin G. Pennington of Marion; one stepdaughter, Eunice Sturgill of Chilhowie; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grosses Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Sheets officiating. Interment will follow in Grosses Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Newberry Funeral Home in Chilhowie. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.

Newberry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
