The Sad Result of an Election Spree --How A Young Indiana Lawyer with Shattered Mind met his Death.
Albeit J. Davidson, the unfortunate man who bad his foot crushed at Jefferson Bar-racks on Friday night last, died yeste rday morning from the effects of the shock to his system resulting from the ampu-tation of his mangled lim b. Davidson's wife and mother arrived at the Barracks on Sunday morning . The pa-tient at that time see med to be doing well, and they felt assured tha t he would soon be out again.
Mr. Davidson lived at Peru, In., where be practiced the profession of law, and was a thrifty and respected citizen, h e was not a drinking man, but would on some occasions indulge in intoxica ting beverages, and when he did it generally had the eff ect to drive him wild or crazy. It was thus it served him on Tuesday last, which was election-day in his State. He, on that day, fell in with a party of convivial friends, and drank till his mind was crazed, and while in this demented state he disappeared from the town, and was hot heard of by his friends till the reception of a telegram announcing his mish ap at Jefferson Barracks. Davidson had probably continued to indulge after leaving his home, as he gave every indication of a man who had been drinking excessively for several days appeared rather cheerful after the arrival of his wife and mother, it is thought that he never fully realized his situation, or had any recol-lection of what h ad occurred to him after his departure from Peru. unfortunate man received the kindest attention from Captains Young and Babbitt, and other officers at the Barracks. Coroner will hold an inquest to-day and the remains will be conveyed to Peru tomorrow.

Born in Appomattox County, he was the son of the late Walker Da-vidson and Mary Carter Davidson. He was a retired painter and at-tended Fairview Christian Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Calvin Alexander Davidson.
He is survived by one sister, Es-sie Burger of Spartanburg, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Jean F. David-son of Lynchburg; two grandsons and one great-grandson.
A graveside service will be con-ducted at 11 a.m. today in Spring Hill Cemetery by Dr. James A. Hil-ton.
Whitten Park Avenue Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
