CUNNINGHAM-DAVIDSON CONNECTION

James married Jerussa Morris on 11 November 1841 and Elisabeth Donaldson on 18 July 1847 (MontgomeryCounty, ILL Marriage Record, 1821-1850, transcribed by Margaret Rambo, et al., Montgomery Co., IL Genealogical Society, Litchfield, IL). Nothing is known about Jerussa except that she must have died before James married Elizabeth and that she may have been the mother of one of James's children. No record of her has been found other than the marriage record.
Elizabeth Donaldson, who as a widow of a Moore, married Samuel Donaldson in Washington Co., IL on 8 December 1836. She had been born in Pee Dee district of South Carolina in 1801 and had a five year old son when she married Samuel Donaldson. Samuel was the son of Thomas Donaldson (Fayette Facts a, Vol. RI, No. 3, pp. 68-89). The I850 Federal Census for Montgomery Co., IL listed Elizabeth Davidson as a head of household with Jesse Moore age 19 born in IL, Mary Donaldson age 14 born in IL, Robert age 10 born in IL, and Samuel age 8 born in IL. James was not listed. Elizabeth has not been identified in any subsequent census.
James Davidson has not been identified in the 1840 or 1850 Federal Census for Illinois or the 1855 Illinois State Census for Montgomery and Fayette Counties. The 1860 Federal Census for Hurricane Twp., Montgomery Co., IL lists James as a head of household age 60, Thomas age 22 born in IL, and Nicholas age 14 born in IL.
James died on 26 August 1875 (Montgomery Co., IL Estate Records, Bk. E, p. 20). According to a recorded deposition, James was survived by seven children - Thomas, Nicholas W., and Nancy A.Davidson of Montgomery County; Allen of Fayette County; Polly Watkins of Shelby County; and Eli and Robert of Sangamon County. In a noncupative will delivered to Levi Davidson and John Osborne, James left all his personal property to Nicholas W. A J.T. Alexander was appointed Administrator of the estate. No mention is made of a surviving wife. NOTE(ogd): I am assuming Robert is stepson Why don't we see Nancy in the census?

General Notes: Husband - David A Davidson

This is pure speculation, that David is a son of this Thomas. His first born is named Thomas, I a have long speculated that David and Jordan are related, originally thinking they were cousins. Speculation was based on:

David A Davidson and family lived next door to Uel Musick in 1840 Franklin County, Mo census
The Wade family is listed close by.

1840 census, Franklin County, Mo - Calvey Township, (ancestry lists Galena)
A few entries away from Eul Misick; also a couple Johns families
David A Davidson 2 boys < 5, 1 female age 20-30, 1 male age 30-40, 6 slaves
-------------------------------------------------------
This family seems to have disappeared. Could they have died in choler outbreak, such as the one which killed James and his wife in 1854?

Note -- in same township as Jordan:

Note: ages dont match for the two boys, who were born in VA in the 1830s, suggesting the family wasn't in MO until 1837. Could th 1830 and 1840 David be different men?
