DEATH OF MRS. JAMES

The family of Hon. John Beggs, is plunged in grief today over the death of Mrs. Elizabeth James, eldest daughter of Mr. Beggs, and wife of Alonzo James, of this city. The unfortunate lady died at the family residence last night, at nine o'clock, of cancer, a disease she has been afflicted with for the past year. Four bright and handsome children, two boys and two girls in addition to the husband constituted the family. Mrs. James was attended by her father, sisters, husband and children during her last hours, and the death scene was a distressingly sad one.

Deceased possessed one the loveliest Christian characters among the vast throng of professed worshippers of this city. Her piety was the result of a simple, child-like faith which tinged all her words and works. Although her malady was one of the most painful character, and her reasons for desiring health and happiness abundant, she never murmured, and when the end came she was resigned and willing to submit to His will. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of a large circle of sorrowing friends.

Elizabeth James, wife of Alonzo James, died at their residence, No. 57 West Jackson street, at 9 o'clock p.m. June 14th, age 37 years, will be buried at Forest Hill. Services at the First Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. T. L. Hughes officiating. Friends of the family can view the remains form 12 to 2 p.m. at the residence as the casket will not be opened at the church. D. B. Wilson & Son, funeral director.
