CUNNINGHAM-DAVIDSON CONNECTION
John Davidson (son of Blair) was born between 1805 and 1810 (1820 Federal Census for Warren Co., TN; 1830 Federal Census for Orange Co., IN; 1840 Federal Census for Fayette Co., IL; 1835 State Census for Fayette Co., IL). His birth place is unknown. He first appears as a head of household in the 1830 census for Orange Co., IN.
By 1835, John and his family were in Fayette County. It may have been this John Davidson who, on 26 March 1840, purchased 40 acres located in Section 13 of what became Otego Township (Federal Land Office Records, Illinois State Archives).
John married Elizabeth (Betsy) Spencer (1878 History of Fayette Co., IL, p. 739). They had at least seven children: George W. born 1828 in IN, Nancy M. born 1838 in IL, James born 1840 in IL, Sidney born 1844 in IL, Henry C. born 1849 in IL, and two unidentified girls who were born between 1830 and 1835 but were not in John's household in the 1850 census (1840 and 1850 Federal Censuses for Fayette Co., IL).
A biographical sketch of John and Elisabeth's son, Henry C., is found in the 1878 History of Fayette County Illinois. According to the sketch, Henry C. was born in Sharon Township and that he was only five years of age when his father died. His mother died a year later. After his mother died, the family was broken up and Henry C. was raised by Harry Hinton of Hurricane Township. Inasmuch as Elizabeth was listed as the head-of-household in the 1855 State Census, John and Elizabeth must have died sometime between 1854 and 1856.

General Notes: Husband - John Davidson
Joseph Davidson was in Washington County North Carolina in 1788. This area became Washington County Tennessee in 1796 the area he was in later fell into Carter County This land was accross the Watauga River from Landon Carter's property. Joseph was back in forth between Campbell Virginia and Tennessee as he stated on a court document in Campbell Virginia he was not a resident of that state in 1795. Washington County, TN later became Sullivan then Carter County
John Sr and John Jr showed up later in 1797, with Agnew and William from Bedford County, Va..Samuel showed up in 1790 his land ajoined the Beens as did Josephs . There was a John Davidson that sold his land in Bedford in 1795.
Note: This John Davidson family below might be from the James Davidson family. We know that Samuel, who settled in Washington County, TN for awhile, was the son of James. I am supposing that this John , listed as John Sr in the 1797 census Washington County, TN census, is a cousin of James Sr., akthough he could have very well been a borhter.

Speculation that John was Micajahs father. Note that Micajah's first born was James (so was Micajah a son of James?) and his second born son was John (after wifes father). Also. a younger James also seemed to have followed Micajah to Effingham County, Ill from TN ....possibly Micajahs brother?
If person listed with John Sr in 1810:
b 1785-1794
There is a John Davidson in Buckingham County in 1810.
John Davidson (Littleberry Hughes close by) thought by some to be Stephens, Joseph and Henry's father.

General Notes: Husband - John Davidson
Name and birth date from Campbell County tithe research. See notes under father.
Do not know for sure this is John who married Frances Woodsman. I know George Davidson (son of Joseph) lived close to the Woodsons. John would have been about 21 at time of wedding.
Possible Campbell County Marriages:
JOHN DAVIDSON FRANCES WOODSON 04 Feb 1808 Campbell John Woodson Jr father of the bride, married by William Flowers. John Davidson & Anderson Woodson, bondman
John Davidson Mary Ratcliff Mar 05 1801 married by William Flowers. Bride provided her own consent. John Davidson and Samuel Davidson, bondsman. Samuel Davidson, William Brown and John Irvine, witnesses. (possibly Alexander Davidson family)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick review of Campbell County tax list tithes - John Davidson
A lot of Johns appear. 1785 - John Davidson & John Davidson Jr; A John married Jane Bryan in 1785 (Joseph bondsman, John Cole & David Barnett witness) Both appear again in 1786, 1787, 1788 and 1789.
Also in 1787, 1788 a John is shown next to Alexander - probably Alexanders son, who supposedly left the county, but not sure when. He is supposedly the John who moved to Madison County Ky. Married Elizabeth Kincaid there in 1790. In 1805 he deeded his Campbell County land to his brother Sam and brother-in-law John Thompson.
No John in 1791. John than appears in 1792, 1793, 1794, 1795, 1796. In 1797 a John Sr and John Jr appear. John Sr has additional tithe. No John in 1798, 1799, 1800, 1801.
A John appears in 1802, 1804. Possibly John who married Polly Caffery in 1803? or Mary Ratcliff in 1801? Note that a David lost a tithe in 1801, only new name on tax list is John in 1802.
Another John appears to be next to a Samuel in 1803, 1804. Could this be John of Kentucky, son of Alexander? He deeded his land over to his brother Samuel and brother-in-law John Thompson in 1805. [His sister MARGARET Davidson m John Thompson 1796, consent of Alexander, father of the bride, Samuel Davidson, bondsman.]
In 1805, one John appears next to James and it fits James missing tithe. In 1806, he is next to James and Abner. Another John also appears in 1806. In 1807, a John Jr and next to Abner, a John D. 1808 tax list is not available. In 1809 a John C Davidson next to Joseph. No John in 1810. A John than appears in 1811 and 1814.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are at least four marriages for John Davidsons in Campbell County, VA: 1787 to Jane Bryan, 1801 to Mary Ratcliff, 1803 to Polly Caffery and 1808 to Frances Woodson.
Alexander Davidson of Campbell County also included a John:
In 1787, 1788 Campbell County tax lists, Alexander is next to a John, presumably his son. John is said to be the John who moved to Madison Co., Kentucky and married Elizabeth Kincaid in 1790. I believe Alex Sr son John reappears in 1802 (possibly), 1803, 1804 after Alex Sr's death. John sold his land in 1805 to his brother Samuel and brother-in-law John Thompson.
-----------------------------------------------------
perhaps he moved to Garrard County, Kentucky prior to Abner moving there:
1810 Garrard County KY
John Davidson age 26-45 with female age 16 to 25
It is suspected that this John later located in Madison County Ky, who married a Kincaid?
But there is this marriage, in Garard County, Ky:
Davidson, JohnOct. 3, 1802 Buford, Patsy
Consent given by Father, William Buford
Bondsman is Henry Buford
Another early Garrard County Davidson is Ephraim Davidson, and I think I have seen him in records for Smith County, Tennessee near Family 7, but he is not family 7 (need to confirm). Above John may be Ephraim's brother.
Davidson, Ephraim E.Oct. 27, 1808 Brank, Polly
General Notes: Wife - Frances Woodson
A John and a Jacob Woodson are one person away from George Davidson in 1810 Campbell County, Lynchburg census. From ages, Jacob may be son to John.
