Naomi A. Nixon 59, of 2075 Shelby Avenue, Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 20, 1986, of injuries in an automobile accident on Indiana 66, approximately a mile east of Alcoa. She had worked for 25 years for A & P Food Stores, with most of the time as the dairy department manager. Mrs. Nixon was one of the first women underground coal miners at Peabody Coal Company No. 11, where she worked for 9 years. She was a member of North East Park Baptist Church, the Evansville Chapter No. 555 Order of the Eastern Star, and the United Mine Workers. She was the widow of Allison "Al" Nixon, who died in 1976. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Young of Evansville, Indiana, her mother Marie McKinney of Marion, Kentucky and a grandson.
