Posting by Bill:
The referenced Samuel M. Davidson in Scotland Co., MO and Franklin Co., MO was almost certainly a son of the older James Davidson who was in Franklin Co., MO in the mid-1800s.There was also an OLDER Samuel Davidson who was on the 1840 Franklin Co., MO census, and he was an apparent younger brother of the above James Davidson.Another apparent brother of James and the older Samuel Davidson was the David A. Davidson who was also in Franklin Co., MO.Those three brothers strongly appear to have been sons of the Thomas Davison, Senior who appeared on the 1810, 1820 and 1830 Botetourt Co., VA censuses (and that Thomas Davison, Senior was apparently in Campbell Co. VA before migrating to Botetourt....and he apparently also spent some time in GA in the 1780s/1790s).Two other apparent brothers (who did not move to MO) were Allen Davidson (who was on the 1820 and 1830 Charlotte Co., VA censuses) and Thomas Davison, Junior (who was on the 1830 Botetourt Co., VA census).

This family has two living male Davidson/Davison DNA donors in it who have taken the Y chromosome DNA test, and they matched several other donors who are in DNA "Family 7" at www.davidsongenes.org.DNA "Family 7" came from PA to the Bedford/Campbell Co., VA area by the late-1770s.One of the referenced DNA donors is a descendant of the referenced Allen Davidson, while the other DNA donor is a descendant of the referenced Thomas Davison, Junior.

We do not know the name of the first wife of Thomas Davison, Senior (who was the mother of all five of the above-referenced brothers). It would be great if we could find living male Davidsons who are out of James Davidson, David A. Davidson or the older Samuel Davidson in MO who would also take the DNA test (to see if they would, in fact, also match DNA "Family 7").

The Paulina Davidson who married a Mr. Billups in the above area of MO was PROBABLY a sister of the above Samuel M. Davidson, and hence, Paulina was PROBABLY a daughter of the referenced James Davidson.Comments/questions?
