Elizabeth had an affair with a man named David Smith (he was not married at the time), and that affair produced a boy and a girl who each took Davidson as their last name. David Smith later married someone else.Note: This is reported in the book, 'Botetourt County Virgnia Heritage'
I am now aware of an 1815 deed that listed all of William and Martha (Baker) Davidson's children, and the Elizabeth "Betsy Ann" Davidson who had an affair with David Smith in Botetourt was NOT listed. So, it now seems certain that Elizabeth was out of the Thomas Davidson who was on the Botetourt censuses in 1810, 1820 and 1830.....and hence, Elizabeth was probably a sister of DNA "Family 7" Thomas M. Davidson of Botetourt. Since Elizabeth's family was closely associated with a Michael McClure, and since a Michael McClure had married a daughter of the older Thomas Davidson in Botetourt, a "connection" between Elizabeth "Betsy Ann" Davidson and Thomas Davidson had already seemed quite likely to me....and now I believe that we can all "takeit to the bank."
