E.P. Harris, Jr. started for Los Gatos, Santa Clara County, Calif. Tuesday of this week. A farewell reception was given at Elm Hall the Friday night previous. It was a surprise on Ed, and a large one. A large number of friends were present from Lecompton and this Neighborhood. Everyone tried to have the best time possible and the result was something marvelous. It was a pastime, a frolic and a carnival of fun. A delicious supper was served and the fun commenced again. Ed is a popular leader of society and a jolly good fellow. A cluster of regrets cling to his departure and columns of good wishes follow him, and we hope in that wonderful land where success travels every avenue of labor and golden opportunity crops from every hillside, that he may gather a few.

Ed Harris came home to spend Sunday. He was carrying himself around in a sling, a living protest against football as a gentle fawn like diversion. Ed played nobly at left tackle in the Nebraska-Kansas game of Saturday.
