Hockaday.
One of Madison county oldestand most highly respected citizens passed away last week, when Dr. William L. Hockaday answerd the last call. Boro sod reared within a mile of the place where be died he helped to uphold the excellent name of the eitlaenry of Madison oonnty by being a power for right and good in the community where he resided so long. HU parents were alto natives of thu county and were pioneers of great courage, woo left to their children that Hoh legacy, "to be good ia to be great'*. Dr. Hock-aday chose the medical profession, young in life, as hia work, and after graduating with honors at the Medical College, Philadelphia, returned to Madison, where be has practiced suc-cessfully for the nearly forty years. Enjoying the rural iife in preference to the city, he remained in the country and in addition to his large practice, he has been noted for his extensive farming interests and the breeding of high class saddle and harness horses. The noted sire "Rex Pea vine" brought his name before the whole country as a successful breeder of winning saddle horses. Dr. Hockaday was twice married, his first wife being Miss Louella Woods, of this county. she died in 1886 and three children survive that union: Messrs. Lawson, Walter and James all of Madison. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Adams, of this county several years ago, and she sur-vives him, besides two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Adams, of Silver Creek and Mrs. Nettie Million, of Valley View. He was in his sixty eighth year. The funeral services were conducted at Mt. Zion church in the country, where he had held his membership since a young man, by Rev. Barnes last Thursday and interment followed in Richmond ceme-tery, where the beautiful Masonic burial service was read. The deceased was a member of Richmond Commandery, No. 19, Knights Templar.
