Bill Henry Lunsmann

Bill Henry Lunsmann died Aug. 16 of heart failure at his home in Bellevue. He was 78.

Mr. Lunsmann was born July 18, 1926, in Tacoma. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1944. He enlisted in the Navy and served in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; the Solomon Islands; New London, Conn.; and Key West, Fla. He worked in special weapons in submarines. He was discharged in 1947.

He married Dorothy Joyce Lunsmann on Sept. 25, 1949 in Tacoma. They were married for 54½ years.

After the Navy, he graduated from Chicago Tech in 1952 and worked for Sunbeam and Teletype before landing a job at Boeing Airplane Company, where he worked from 1957 to 1986.

He was a member of Sigma Phi Delta fraternity, Moose Lodge and Sunrise RV Club. He bowled on several teams at Sunvilla Lanes in Bellevue, won the Boeing golf tournament in 1975 and raced motorcycles. He also enjoyed RV camping, baseball, football and boxing.

His family said he had a wonderful sense of humor, loved the outdoors and adored his family. He had a true sense of pride and integrity, a commitment for ``doing it the right way'' and a great knack for detail.

Mr. Lunsmann is survived by sons, Gary of Fairwood, and Brad of Seattle; daughters Shary Fearn of Maple Valley and Chris Buettner of Duvall; and three grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W. in Tacoma. Arrangements are by Green Funeral Home in Bellevue.
