(Rogers Democrat 7/13/1911)

The Springdale News from Cave Springs
July 14, 1911

On the morning of July 4th J. B. Phillips passed away at his home one mile north of town after a long and lingering illness. His death had been daily expected for some time but the end came suddenly and peacefully. He was 53 years, 3 months and 11 days old. He leaves a wife, one daughter and two sons, besides other relatives to mourn his death. Also he had many, many friends who will miss him for he was a man loved and esteemed by everyone and his universal kindness to the sick or needy is not known to the world but is forever enshrined in the hearts of the recipients. That he was greatly beloved was proved by the large concourse of friends who attended the funeral services which were conducted under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. lodge. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Hall of the Baptist Church in which church Bro. Phillips had long been a faithful and earnest worker. The remains were laid to rest in the Phillips graveyard. To the sorrowing family and relatives the entire community extend sincerest sympathy. Few of us, indeed, have unbroken families.

Son Dan Elmer died in Titusville, FL in 1992, but no information found on him.

(From Cave Springs) Grandma Murdock died last Wednesday after a long spell of sickness and was interred in the Barren cemetery the day following. She leaves three daughters and three sons to mourn her death. (Rogers Democrat 11/14/1912)

The Springdale News from Cave Springs
November 15, 1912

Grandma Murdock died at her home northwest of town last Wednesday, Nov. 6. She was past 81 years of age. She leaves three sons and two daughters, besides several grand-children to mourn her death. Her children were all present during her last hours as her death had been daily expected for some time. She was buried Thursday at the Barron cemetery

Jesse Davidson, mother Nancys brother is listed as guardian for the children by 1850.

Sharon M Hutcheson : "This is the very first time I've found anything even close to a lead for
Rebecca Jane and I would so very much appreciate it if you would contact me. I have been told that her mother or her grandmother (this was unclear) was a Davidson, but no first name was given. Other than that, I was told she, perhaps, had two brothers and two sisters...no clue as to given names there either. No given name for her father.

Other information was that she was born either in or near Louisville, KY. about 1832. The first I find of her is in 1850 in Jefferson County, IN. At that time she was in the household of Hiram Francisco and family. Her reason for being in that household is not given. In 1851, in Madison, Jefferson Co., In, she married my great grandfather. "

Birthdate here is that provided by Sharon Hutcheson.

Rebecca Jane Williamson married Samuel Murdock on 26 March 1851, in Jefferson Co., Indiana.

Their children were:
William H., Emily Elisabeth, Charles A., John H., Nancy Mandana (the Franciscos had a daughter named Mandana), Sarah Viola, Cornelia Rebecca (the Franciscos had a daughter named Cornelia), Samuel Elmer (my line), Meroa Ann (the Franciscos had a daughter Anna) and Merrit Milton (William's second wife Elizabeth had a son Milton).

Samuel and Rebecca Jane lived for a short time in Jefferson Co. then moved to
Ripley Co. (immediately to the north of Jefferson) to the small town of Holton.
There they remained until the late 1870s (I think...I don't have that info in front of me right now) when, according to family lore, due to poor health of Rebecca Jane, they removed to Benton Co., AR, near the small town of Cave Springs. They remained in Benton Co. until death.
